England's Barmy Army fan club has targeted Australia and their pacer Josh Hazlewood after the 2021 Champions' exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Australia were denied entry to the last 4 stages by team India as well as Afghanistan, who defeated Bangladesh to reach their maiden semi-final of an ICC event. The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, stormed the Australians in a sensational Super 8s fixture which took place last night at the Darren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia.

Mitchell Marsh's side had entered the 20-team T20 World Cup as one of the favorites to win the competition. However, Australia suffered back-to-back defeats against two Asian teams - India and Afghanistan which saw them exit the tournament. The Baggy Greens were chasing their 3rd ICC title in less than a year after winning the WTC and CWC 2023 finals.

On both occasions, they had defeated the same Rohit Sharma-led Indian team, first at the Oval and then in Ahmedabad. Pat Cummins had lived up to his promise by silencing more than a million India fans but they won't be able to do it this time around. They will now be watching their bitter rivals - India, England, South Africa, and now Afghanistan fight it out in the semi-finals.

The likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh, and Josh Hazlewood among others are being trolled by Indian and English fans on social media recklessly. Hazlewood is being targeted because he was the one who had admitted in front of press reporters that England's departure from the competition falls in their best interest.

Josh Hazlewood had also indicated that losing a match against Scotland in the Group stages ends up sending England back home. However, the tables have turned and both of their rivals have reached the spot where they wanted to be.

Barmy Army target Josh Hazlewood with a post on X

England cricket's fan club, which is known as the 'Barmy Army' was very vocal about Josh Hazlewood's desire to see the reigning champions out. They had done everything on their behalf to express their displeasure after hearing those comments and after Australia's exit yesterday, they have escalated the trolling.

Barmy Army took to X (formerly Twitter) to post Josh Hazlewood's picture from the press conference with a caption that read, "images that precede unfortunate events."

India Vs England do not have a reserve day

Meanwhile, India and England's meeting at the semi-finale doesn't have a reserve day in case the match gets washed out. The ICC has instead allotted 250 minutes extra for the match to take place even if rain interrupts the game.

But if the match gets entirely washed out without a ball bowled, then the Barmy Army and England will pack bags and leave home. That's because India will proceed as the Group 1 leaders in the Super 8s while the Three Lions finished as runners-up of Group 2.
