Sachin Tendulkar is widely regarded as the greatest Indian batsman of all time. The former India batter is one of the most decorated batters in the history of the game. He retired with most runs and centuries in international cricket and still holds most of the major batting records in the game.

Virat Kohli is considered a close second to Sachin Tendulkar with many also saying that the former has already surpassed the latter’s ODI legacy. During the recently-concluded World Cup, Kohli broke Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in ODIs as he became the first-ever player to reach 50 centuries in the 50-over format.

While Tendulkar and Kohli are widely regarded as India’s most decorated and greatest batsmen, former Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan has a different opinion. The former left-arm pacer has picked Rohit Sharma over Tendulkar and Kohli and also explained the reason behind his decision.

Junaid Khan picks Rohit Sharma as India’s greatest batter:

Junaid Khan was recently asked to choose between Tendulkar and Kohli as India’s greatest batter. In reply, the former pacer picked Rohit Sharma and heaped praise on him. He was all praise for the way Rohit bats and stated that the India superstar possesses all the shots. He also highlighted his monumental 264-run knock and said that scoring three double centuries in ODIs is a remarkable feat.

“In my opinion, Rohit Sharma is the greatest Indian batsman. The way he plays is worth watching. He has every type of shot. There is no doubt that Virat Kohli showcased outstanding batting in the World Cup. Regarding Sachin, one can say that if he played in today’s era, he would have scored not just 100 but 150 centuries,” said Junaid.

“Why is Rohit Sharma called ‘Hitman’? He scored 264 in ODIs. Besides, he has hit 2-3 double centuries, which is a remarkable feat. He has hit the most sixes, so that’s why my vote goes to Rohit Sharma,” he added.

Rohit Sharma holds the record for the highest score in ODIs as well as most ODI double centuries. He is also the only player with more than one double century in ODIs. The right-handed batsman has hit four centuries in T20Is too which is most by a batsman in the format.
