India Champions beat Pakistan Champions to clinch WCL 2024 title

Pakistan Champions were coming into this match with form on their side. But their in-form batting order collapsed in front of a disciplined Indian bowling attack. Players like Kamran Akmal, Sharjeel Khan, Shoaib Malik, and Sohaib Maqsood had a good season with the bat before the final.

But except Shoaib Malik, no one could get a significant score on the board. Malik scored 41 off 36 balls, which included 3 sixes. Sohail Tanvir provided the late impetus to the innings with 19 off 9 balls. Indian bowlers bowled to a plan and did not allow Pakistan batters to get away with the game.

The bowlers took full advantage of a slowish wicket. Fast bowler Anureet Singh picked up 3-43, which included the key wickets of Sharjeel Khan and Shoaib Malik. Irfan Pathan picked up the wicket of Pakistan's captain Younis Khan while Pawan Negi bowled an economical spell of 1-24 in 4 overs.

Chasing a modest target of 157 runs to win, India got off to a flying start but the in-form Robin Uthappa was dismissed while trying to increase the scoring rate. Ambati Rayudu scored a brilliant 50 off 30 balls and kept the innings right on track. But he was dismissed by Saeed Ajmal soon after completing his fifty.

However, skipper Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan made sure to take the innings deep and finish off the game. Yusuf scored an excellent 30 off 16 balls while his brother Irfan Pathan scored the winning runs in the final over by hitting a four off Sohail Tanvir. Aamer Yamin picked up 2 wickets for Pakistan while Wahab Riaz, Saeed Ajmal, and Shoaib Malik picked up a wicket each.
