Karnataka Announce Squad For The Ranji Trophy 2022 Quarterfinal vs Uttar Pradesh, Prasidh Krishna Not Included

Karnataka have announced a 20-member squad for the Ranji Trophy 2022 quarter-final against Uttar Pradesh, which is scheduled to commence on June 6 at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur.

Star Karnataka players – KL Rahul and Prasidh Krishna – will not be participating in the quarter-final clash of the marquee domestic competition against Uttar Pradesh.

Notably, KL Rahul is all set to lead the India National Cricket Team in the five-match home T20 International (T20I) series against South Africa.

The five-match T20I series between India and South Africa will begin on June 9 in Delhi and the remaining games will be held in Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot and Bengaluru respectively.

Meanwhile, the right-arm pacer Prasidh Krishna has been named in India’s squad for the one-off Test against the England National Cricket Team.

India will play the 5th and last Test match of the series against England in England, which was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp. The 5th rescheduled Test match will be played at the Edgbaston, Birmingham from Friday, July 1.

Although Krishna will be in India at the time of the Ranji Trophy 2022 quarter-final he has been advised to skip the game to manage his workload as he recently played all the games of the Indian Premier League 2022 for Rajasthan Royals. V Koushik has been named in the team with the unavailability of Krishna to make the pace battery strong.

Meanwhile, Karnataka, on paper, look quite strong as they have got star players like Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, Devdutt Padikkal, Krishnappa Gowtham and Shreyas Gopal.
