Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen claims that Australia will be looking for a new captain beyond Tim Paine after the home series defeat against an injury Prone Indian side. India managed to register their second series win in Australia consecutively with a young and inexperienced side. After getting all out for 36 in the first test at Adelaide, It takes a lot of character to make a comeback from there and to win the series 2-1 is a remarkable feat.

“Australians don’t like to lose and the knives will be out for a few members of that team after this defeat,”  Kevin Pietersen wrote in Betway.  “I believe that Cricket Australia will soon be looking for a new captain – Paine has never, ever been up to it” added Kevin Pietersen stating that Tim Paine has never been up to the mark and Australia should be looking for a new captain.

“I Would Never Have Made Him Captain In The First Place” – Kevin Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen has criticized Tim Paine for his captaincy methods and he also mentioned that he would have never opted for Paine as the captain even during the tough sandpaper incident. He also doesn’t rate Tim Paine as a good enough player to lead a country like the Australian Cricket team. Tim Paine has captained Australia in 23 tests and has won 11 of those while losing 8 tests.

“He got chucked into that position when Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft got caught up in the sandpaper controversy, but from my perspective, having played against him and watched him, he’s not an Australia captain. He’s just not a good enough player, apart from anything else. I would never have made him captain in the first place, and he’s probably never going to lead them into another Test match.” insisted Kevin Pietersen on Paine’s captaincy

“Still Looking Forward To Going To South Africa” –  Tim Paine

Tim Paine has admitted that he wants to continue the captaincy even after the series defeat to India. He also accepts the fact that he is being scrutinized on social media.

“Still looking forward to going to South Africa and have the goal of reaching the Test championship final. I’m loving doing my job. It’s a difficult job and at times like this, it can be bloody hard work. But that’s what I signed up for. I didn’t play my best cricket at times in this series” said Tim Paine. He also added, “That’s part of the course of the job there are people out there that get paid to critic the game and the job”  when asked about the criticism.
