Veteran West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard achieved a rare milestone during the recent match between the Southern Brave and the Trent Rockets in The Hundred Men's Competition 2024. Kieron Pollard became the first-ever cricketer to achieve this milestone in both T20s and 100-ball formats of the game.

Kieron Pollard played a crucial role in helping the Southern Brave register victory in a closely fought encounter at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday, August 10. Pollard scored 45 runs off 23 balls, including two boundaries and five sixes. He was named "Hero of the Match" for his heroics with the bat.

The Southern Brave was struggling at 78/6 in 76 deliveries in the run chase of 127 against the Trent Rockets. They needed 49 runs off the last 20 deliveries to secure the victory. Ace spinner Rashid Khan conceded 10 runs and took one wicket in his first 15 deliveries. Pollard scored just six runs off his first 14 balls.

Kieron Pollard Becomes First Player To Achieve This Rare Record

Kieron Pollard changed the momentum in his team's favor by smashing five consecutive sixes off Rashid Khan's over. The former West Indies skipper hit the 81st ball for a six over mid-wicket, followed by another six over long off. He went on to smash three sixes to bring the equation to 19 runs needed off 15 balls.

The 37-year-old batter made history by becoming the first batter to hit six consecutive sixes in both T20s and the Hundred format. He hit six consecutive sixes in a T20I match against Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya in 2021.

Pollard was dismissed when the team needed 9 runs off 10 balls in the match. He was run out after attempting an unnecessary single. He defended a ball in front of cover, and the substitute fielder, Calvin Harrison, hit the stumps directly. The team chased down the target with a ball to spare as Chris Jordan hit a four.

Chris Jordan Takes Three Wickets With The Ball

Earlier, Trent Rockets skipper Lewis Gregory opted to bat first after winning the toss in the 24th match of The Hundred Men's Competition 2024. Tom Banton (30 off 17) and Adam Lyth (16 off 14) added a 46-run stand for the first wicket. They lost the wicket of Joe Root, leaving the team at 81/4 in 62 deliveries.

The Trent Rockets went on to lose wickets at regular intervals in the first innings of the match. Rovman Powell (16 off 14) and Gregory (19 off 17) failed to convert their stand into a big score. Rashid Khan (5 off 7) and Imad Wasim (2 off 3) didn't score quick runs to help the team reach a respectable total in the game.

Chris Jordan took three wickets for 22 runs in 20 deliveries. Danny Briggs and Jofra Archer secured two wickets each in the match. Akeal Hosein bagged one wicket but conceded 31 runs in his 20 balls.
