Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir recently opened up about his relationship with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli. Gautam Gambhir said that the media often sensationalizes their interactions for TRPs without understanding their relationship.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli have been involved in on-field altercations in the past in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli engaged in a heated argument with Naveen-ul-Haq during the clash between RCB and LSG in 2023. Gambhir intervened, leading to a fiery exchange with Kohli.

Media Has Got No Clue - Gautam Gambhir

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Gautam Gambhir criticized the media for showing a rift between him and Virat Kohli. He emphasized that interference in their personal relationship is unwarranted and should be left between them.

"It is all about TRPs. Media has got no clue what kind of a person I am, what kind of a person Virat is. All the media wants to do is create hype. But hype can also be created in a positive way," Gambhir said.

"I absolutely second what Virat said. Logon ka masala nahi mila toh (The gossip bit is over for people). As I said, when two people are matured enough, I don't think so anyone has got any right to interfere between two people's life or their relationships because ultimately, it is between two of them," he added.

Cannot Pull Off Even One Move - Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir jokingly expressed his desire to learn some dance moves from Virat Kohli, admitting his own inability to dance.

"Even if I want to, I cannot pull off even one move. So if I had to learn something from Virat, it would be his dance moves (smiles)," Gambhir stated.

People Are Very Disappointed With My Behaviour - Virat Kohli

Earlier, Virat Kohli stated that people are very disappointed with his on-field behavior. The 35-year-old batter stated that the critics don't have anything juicy, and they've started booing.

"People are very disappointed with my behavior. I hugged Naveen, and then the other day Gauti bhai [Gautam Gambhir] hugged me. Now that they don't have anything juicy, they've started booing. We are not kids!" Kohli stated.

The Delhi-born cricketer is representing RCB in the Indian Premier League 2024. The right-handed batter has scored 430 runs in nine matches at an impressive average of 61.42 and a strike rate of 145.76. He has smashed three half-centuries and a century in the tournament so far.

Gautam Gambhir is serving as a mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the tournament. The Shreyas Iyer-led team is in second place in the 10-team points table, having won five out of eight matches. The team needs to win at least three more matches to secure a berth in the playoffs.

The Faf du Plessis-led team suffered two losses against the Kolkata team in the 17th edition of the tournament. They are currently at the bottom of the table with just four points to their name.
