The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh got the legendary skipper MS Dhoni’s autograph on his jersey after a six-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, May 14. A video of the same has gone viral on Twitter.

Rinku Singh scored a half century of 54 runs off 43 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. The southpaw came to the crease when the team was struggling at 33/3 and added a crucial 99-run partnership with his skipper Nitish Rana to help the team register the victory.

Moeen Ali, who was standing at the cover, hit the stumps at the non-striker’s end. Nitish Rana scored a winning run by smacking a boundary off Tushar Deshpande to keep their play-off hopes alive.

Speaking after the match, Rinku Singh revealed their game plan while chasing a target on a challenging wicket. Rinku said that Nitish Rana told him to work in singles and capitalise on loose balls.

“Lost some wickets early. When I went in, Nitish bhaiyya said it’s a tough wicket. Will knock it around for singles and capitalise on loose balls. I bat in the same position in domestic cricket, play the same way. I eat well, have always had the power. A lot of hard work behind it,” Rinku said after the match.

The Nitish Rana-led team moved to 7th place in the 10-team table with 12 points in their tally.
