Tilak Varma, on Saturday (May 11), showcased his fielding skills as he ran out Nitish Rana with a brilliant throw in the ongoing game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Nitish Rana and Andre Russell joined hands in the ninth over when Kolkata Knight Riders were reeling at 77 for 4. The duo took the score past the 100-run mark for the hosts and were well set. And just when it looked like they would shift gears, Tilak Varma broke the stand by sending back Nitish Rana.

On the final ball of the 12th over, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a full-length delivery just outside leg. Nitish Rana made room for himself before steering the ball towards point. He did take a couple of steps forward for a run but did not look too confident.

Russell, however, had made his mind up and set off for the single. After seeing Russell running towards the striker's end, a hesitant Nitish Rana quickly changed his mind and set off to complete the single. However, the moment of hesitancy cost him his wicket as he failed to get back inside the crease safely.

As Rana set off for the run, Tilak Varma picked up the ball and hit the stumps with a bullet throw at the non-striker's end. The left-handed batsman departed after scoring 33 runs off 23 balls and sharing a 39-run stand with Russell for the fifth wicket.
