Kolkata Knight Riders are facing Punjab Kings in the third match of their IPL 2022 campaign at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. KKR are heading into this game after losing their last game against RSB. Punjab on the other hand, beat RCB in their first game of the campaign. Umesh Yadav, KKR’s opening bowler dismissed the opposition skipper Mayank Agarwal to give his team a great start.
Bowling wicket to wicket, Umesh Yadav trapped Mayank Agarwal on his pads with a ball that just held its line and was headed straight to the wicket. Mayank was wise enough not to go for a review for a dismissal that was very straightforward.
This was also Umesh’s 50th wicket in the powerplay. The wicket was also his fifth of this campaign so far. Umesh Yadav has now taken wickets inside the powerplay in all three matches and given KKR good starts in the process.
Earlier in the game, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. They brought in Shivam Mavi in place of Sheldon Jackson and packed their XI with an added bowling option.
“We’re going to bowl first. The reason is obviously the swimming pool (of dew) that’s visible in the evenings. As I said last game, it’s about giving it your all to defend no matter what score you have on the board. All the players are dedicated and focused to perform their roles for the last two games. We can’t complain (about having three games in a week), we’re all professionals. One change – Shivam Mavi comes in for Sheldon Jackson” said Iyer.
