Shikhar Dhawan, the PBKS opener, will be looking to improve on his side’s incredible record when they play KKR later tonight.

Punjab Kings will face Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, as Mayank Agarwal’s side looks to maintain its winning streak in the 2022 Indian Premier League.

The PBKS had a brilliant batting performance in the last game, chasing down a 206-run goal with an over to spare. Meanwhile, the Knight Riders will be hoping to bounce back quickly after losing by three wickets to Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier this week.

Punjab Kings’ newest signing Shikhar Dhawan shone with the bat against RCB in their first game, slamming five fours on route to a 43-run knock-off 29 deliveries. As he prepares for the match against KKR on Friday, Dhawan will be aiming for a big record.

Shikhar Dhawan may join the elite list of players:

Dhawan has 992 fours to his name, just eight short of being the first Indian batsman to slam a thousand fours in T20s history. Overall, he’ll be the only fourth batter to accomplish the accomplishment.

The following is a list of players who have made 1000 or more fours:

  • Chris Gayle – 1132
  • Alex Hales – 1054
  • David Warner – 1005

Here are the Indians who have hit the most fours in T20 history:

  • Shikhar Dhawan – 992
  • Virat Kohli – 917
  • Rohit Sharma – 875
  • Suresh Raina – 779
  • Gautam Gambhir – 747

Dhawan is indeed the second-highest run-getter in IPL history (5,827), and he might follow Virat Kohli as the only other player in the league to reach 6000+ runs this year.

Dhawan, a left-handed batsman, has spent the last three seasons of the IPL with the Delhi Capitals and was the first player to be purchased in the mega auction before the current edition, for INR 8.25 crore by PBKS.
