Multiple-time Indian Premier League winner Suresh Raina has warned the Kolkata Knight Riders about the surprise package of Pat Cummins in the IPL 2024 final.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad are all set to lock horns with KKR in the IPL final for the first time later tonight. 10 years ago, Pat Cummins himself had become a Premier League champion with Kolkata but tonight the stakes are higher for him. Back then he was just another foreign player on the team but this year he is the captain of a franchise, that is desperate to win its 2nd title.

At the moment, Pat Cummins is almost as if the man with a golden touch who can win everything he sees. The year 2023 was just sensational for him as he captained the Australian team towards 2 major international silverware. The Aussies first defeated India in the World Test Championship final and a few months later, the Kangaroos defeated the Indians again at the ODI World Cup final.

What did Suresh Raina say about Pat Cummins?

Suresh Raina knows very well that Pat Cummins will be hungry to land another silverware even if it's not for his homeland. The right-arm seamer will be aiming to win his first trophy of 2024 and then try to help Australia claim the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

In that context, Suresh Raina lodged a warning to Shreyas Iyer's KKR that Pat Cummins will be switched on for the final. Raina stated that since Cummins has captained a WC-winning team, he knows exactly how to keep things running. Under his captaincy, Raina feels the SRH players are ready to rock and roll.

"The key point for SRH is Pat Cummins who has already won the World Cup, he knows how to keep the dressing room running. You follow the process, you are switched on for the finals, the players know their roles, and everything will be organised," Raina said via Jio Cinema.

It is definitely a fact that Pat Cummins has well and truly justified the amount he received from SRH during the auctions last year. Cummins had momentarily become the most expensive player in IPL when Hyderabad sealed the deal for 20.50 Crores. But moments later Hyderabad's opponents tonight paid 24.75 Crores to Cummins' Aussie teammate Mitchell Starc.

Raina backs SRH to retain their gameplan of batting first

Suresh Raina then gave a piece of advice to SRH to increase their chances of winning the IPL final. The former CSK batter wants the South-Indian franchise to proceed with their batting-first strategy and try to put in as many runs as possible. Raina also asked the Hyderabad batters to be attentive when they face 8 overs of spin from the KKR's spin battery.

"Sunrisers should back their batting-first approach and put runs on the board, but the eight overs of spin will be crucial. With KKR having won an IPL in Chennai, the pressure will be different," Suresh Raina concluded.
