Gautam Gambhir never shies away from showing his aggressive side and he did it again on Tuesday (May 21) after Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers' strong display against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first qualifier of the ongoing IPL 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Led by Mitchell Starc's fiery spell in the powerplay, KKR bowlers came up with a stunning display after SRH won the toss and opted to bat first. Starc dismissed Travis Head for a duck in the very first over before Vaibhav Arora sent back Abhishek Sharma in the second over. In the fifth over, Starc dismissed Nitish Reddy and Shahbaz Ahmed on successive deliveries to leave SRH reeling at 39 for 4.
It was followed by a 62-run stand between Heinrich Klaasen and Rahul Tripathi. However, once the duo departed in quick succession, SRH's innings got derailed again as they found themselves reeling at 126 for 9 from 121 for 5. A crucial 30-run cameo from Pat Cummins then helped SRH post a respectable total of 159.
And as KKR's bowlers made life difficult for the SRH batters on the field, Gautam Gambhir reacted to it in his own aggressive manner in the dugout. He let out a roar and shared a high five with fellow coach Abhishek Nayar to celebrate the team's fine display with the ball.

Talking about the game, KKR are in the driver's seat in the game and are looking destined to win it. At the time of writing this report, they were on 119 for 2 after 11 overs and needed only 41 runs in the last nine overs. The winner of the ongoing game will qualify for the final while the loser will have to play against the winner of the Eliminator between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals for a place in the title decider.
