Not the skipper Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, or Rohit Sharma, who lit up the India vs West Indies ODI series with their exceptional batting, but the experienced spinner Kuldeep Yadav got the 'Impact Player of the Series' from the Indian team management after the third match of the three-match series.

Team India lost the final match of the ODI competition, but claimed the series by a 2-1 scoreline after winning the first two matches. Kuldeep played a major role behind the home team's dominance. Through the series, Kuldeep added multiple records in his international career.

Multiple achievements for Kuldeep Yadav

So, for Kuldeep, he basically got not one but two awards: one is the Impact Player of the Series award, and the other was to touch the 200 ODI-wicket mark.

"First of all, congratulations on winning the series. The award goes to someone who has consistently performed throughout the series. He has also taken 200 wickets in the ODI format. So that's another achievement, and he is also the highest wicket-taker in this series," Parmar said in a video posted on the BCCI's social media accounts on Sunday.

"As we discussed, he has always stood up and performed exceptionally well, and he has always put his body on the line. This award goes to Kuldeep Yadav," he added.

After receiving the award, Kuldeep credited India's ODI format skipper Shubman Gill and the senior batters, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahu,l for their constant support. He also believed that the national camp in Thiruvananthapuram helped him a lot to get back into his flow and rhythm ahead of the bilateral One Day International series against the West Indies national cricket team.

"Firstly, congratulations on the series win. A lot of credit goes to Shubhi (Shubman Gill), Virat bhai (Virat Kohli), KL bhai (KL Rahul) and Rohit bhai (Rohit Sharma), especially with the bat. This award really means a lot to me because before the start of the series, we had a couple of sessions in Trivandrum," Kuldeep Yadav said in the video.

"Then I felt like I was in a very, very good rhythm. I just wanted to continue that rhythm into the games as well, and luckily, it went really well. So this is very special. Thank you," he continued.

Next, Kuldeep Yadav and the Indian cricket team will be playing in the 5-match T20I series against the same opposition, starting on October 6.
