India’s only wrist spinner in the ongoing 5-match home Test series against England, Kuldeep Yadav was the mastermind behind the fall of English opener Zak Crawley who got a terrific head start in the 3rd innings of the 4th Test here in Ranchi’s JSCA stadium.

Zak Crawley was approaching towards his first century of the series but that’s when the master tactician Kuldeep Yadav produced a moment of utter brilliance. He bowled a well thought and executed orthodox Chinaman delivery that comes inside of a right-hander, just like it did in front of Crawley who was all ends up as the ball went straight into the middle stump.

Kuldeep combined with Ravichandran Ashwin in order to help the Indians keep their upper hand over the visitors intact and possibly approach towards another comprehensive victory in the next 2 days. It has been all spinners until now in the 3rd innings as the pitch has slowed down to a lot of extent and the cracks too have opened up more.

How did Kuldeep Yadav remove Crawley after dismissing Rohit Sharma’s advice

So what had happened was that right before claiming Crawley’s wicket, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had asked Kuldeep Yadav to bring the long-off fielder inside the circle to cover the V region and restrict them from taking a single. However, Kuldeep was reluctant to do so and asked Rohit to keep the long-off fielder around the fence so that if Crawley goes down the track and mistimes, then the sweeper will be there for the catch.

And in the very next ball, as Crawley tried to play the cut shot, the tactical thinking of Kuldeep saw him bowl an outside off delivery which zipped back to the batter and crashed the middle stump which not only denied Crawley from doing further damage but also a crucial partnership with 1st innings centurion Joe Root was broken.

The conversation between Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav was caught in the mic stump and was perfectly decoded by former Indian wicket keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik who was in the commentary box at that time.

“Rohit asked whether Kuldeep wanted the gap open there. Kuldeep said no, let there be a gap, let there be cover, but just push the mid-off back. And the next ball, Crawley looking to play towards cover, was bowled neck and crop,” Karthik said on air via Jio Cinema.

Kuldeep Yadav nearing towards his 4th 5-wicket haul

The Kanpur, UP born Chinaman is currently approaching towards his 4th 5-wicket haul in Test cricket and he needs just one more wicket to do so. Kuldeep Yadav has named the wickets of Ben Stokes, Tom Hartley and Ollie Robinson on day 3 and he is currently hustling for that elusive 5th wickets.

The 29-year-old has registered 12 wickets in the series until now and is the 6th highest wicket taker of the India Vs England Anthony De Mello trophy. Hartley, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja (17) and Ravichandran Ashwin have more wickets than Kuldeep. The Three Lions are currently 8 wickets down with Ben Foakes and Shoaib Bashir trying their best to stretch the English innings for as long as possible.
