Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) handed Kusal Mendis ODI and T20I captaincies for their series against West Indies, starting on June 3. Sri Lanka will face the West Indies in an all-format away series. While Kusal Mendis will lead the team in the ODI and the T20I series, Dhananjaya De Silva is assigned as the skipper for the Test team.
The island nation will face the Caribbean national team for a 3-match ODI series (June 3-8), followed by a three-match T20I series (June 12-15). The bilateral series will be concluded through a two-match Test series, which will be held between June 25 and July 7. For the series, the Sri Lanka team will depart for the West Indies tomorrow, 26th May.
Kusal Mendis had a good outing in PSL 2026

Through the tour, multiple star players will make their returns after missing out on some key international matches in the past. Wanindu Hasaranga is among the key inclusions in the white-ball squads who will mark his return after recovering from a left hamstring injury that ruled him out of the T20 World Cup 2026 earlier this year. Because of the injury, the spinner missed the entire IPL 2026 season as well.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's Eshan Malinga is also in the team
Dushmantha Chameera, who missed the ODI series against England at home in January 2026, has been named in the One-Day International squad to take on West Indies. Eshan Malinga, the leading wicket-taker for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2026, and Dushmantha Chameera also return in the main squad.
Players like Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Sonal Dinusha, who performed brilliantly in domestic cricket, are also named for the tour.
