Lahore Qalandars Acquire A Franchise In The Zim Afro T10 Tournament; Durban Qalandars Will Participate In The Inaugural Edition

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions Lahore Qalandars entered another franchise cricket league and acquired a team in the inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 league. The franchise was named the Durban Qalandars, which will participate in the upcoming edition of the T10 league.

Following the success of the T10 leagues, Zimbabwe Cricket established a privately owned team event. Five teams will compete in the Zim Afro T10. Apart from the Durban Qalandars, the other teams are the Harare Hurricanes, Cape Town Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves, and the Joburg Lions.

Zim Afro T10, a branch of the Abu Dhabi T10 league, is set to be held in association with T Ten Global Sports. The first edition will take place from July 20 to 29, with a grand final scheduled for July 29. The players’ draft will take place on July 2 at a grand ceremony in Harare.

We Want To Expand Our Footprint – Sameen Naeem Rana

Pakistani businessmen Atif Naeem Rana and Sameen Naeem Rana own the Lahore Qalandars franchise, which won two Pakistan Super League titles in 2022 and 2023. The Qalandars will aim to replicate their success with the Durban Qalandars in the upcoming Zim Afro T10.

“After winning two consecutive seasons in the PSL, we want to expand our footprint and Zimbabwe is a great chance for us to make a mark,” Sameen Naeem Rana, Owner and CEO of Durban Qalandars said.

“The Zim Afro T10 is surely going to be a very exciting tournament – it is the fastest format in the game after all, and we cannot wait to connect with the fans there and create a strong fanbase for ourselves,” Rana added.

They Have Had A Long-Lasting Effect In The PSL – Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk

T Ten Global Sports Founder and Chairman Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk expressed excitement about the Pakistan Super League champions acquiring the team in the tournament.

“It is great to have the champions from the Pakistan Super League join us in the Zim Afro T10 as the Durban Qalandars,” T Ten Global Sports Founder and Chairman Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk said.

“They have had a long-lasting effect in the PSL and we hope to see them play a similar kind of role in the Zim Afro T10. I expect a stiff competition and some entertaining cricket from the Durban Qalandars from the very first ball. The fans are eagerly awaiting for this festival of cricket to begin,” Mulk added
