Rohit Sharma has a key role to play against Australia as India look to knock them out of the tournament. The two giant teams lock horns on Monday with a spot in the semi-finals up for grabs.

Team India have a golden opportunity to knock Australia out of the tournament and avenge their World Cup final defeat. Rohit Sharma is one short of 100 runs in the tournament as he eyes taking on the Aussie pacers.

The left-arm pacers have troubled the Indian skipper in recent times. In the ODI World Cup, he fell to the likes of Trant Boult and Dilshan Madushanka. In the IPL as well, he fell to Boult in the match against Rajasthan Royals.

Ahead of the match against Australia, Mitchell Starc is his match up but former Indian wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta does not feel that Rohit has any major weakness or concerns against left-arm pacers.

Dont Think Left-Arm Pacers Are A Problem For Rohit Sharma: Deep Dasgupta

"I don't think left-arm pacers are a problem for Rohit. His problem this tournament has been that he looks to play square of the wicket rather than down the ground. If you see his wickets, he has tried to hit across the line on most occasions. On such slow pitches, you need to hit more in the 'V' and if he does that, I don't think he will face those problems," Dasgupta said on Star Sports.

Deep Dasgupta further explained how Afghanistan beating Australia has made this match a must-win for India. This is a must-win match for Australia as well who thrive under pressure and hence the former Indian cricketers see signs of worry for Team India.

India will be under pressure having lost the ODI World Cup final against Australia just six months ago. The Men in Blue have not won an ICC title for the last 10 years. They have not won a T20 World Cup title as well since the inaugural T20 World Cup. In 31 T20I matches, India have won 19 games while Australia 11.

"Afghanistan's win has thrown this group wide open. Now if Australia win it could cause massive problems for India as well. So the game is going to be very important for India" Dasgupta added.

Australia lost to Afghanistan by 21 runs as they could not chase 149 for victory. This was Afghanistan's first major win over Australia. India, Australia, and Afghanistan are now in a three-way tussle to reach the semi-finals.

A win for India and a loss for Australia will make things easier for Afghanistan as they would need to beat Bangladesh to make it to the semi-final. A win for Australia will help Afghanistan know the exact margin by which they need to win to better their NRR than the Aussies.

Afghanistan will play against Bangladesh in the last Super 8 game of the tournament which gives them the advantage of knowing exactly what they need to do to win and make it to the semi-final.
