Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary has come up with a unique solution to ensure more transparency in the team's selection. However, this is not the first time that Tiwary has spoken of such an idea.

A few years ago when Tiwary was still an active cricketer, he had suggested the same idea which he believed would allow the players and fans to assess if the selection was fair or not.

"Live telecast of selection committee meeting" - Manoj Tiwary gives a unique solution

During a discussion on Cricbuzz, Manoj Tiwary was asked about the players like Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer who weren't selected for the Zimbabwe tour. Both these players were removed from the BCCI's annual central contracts list as they were found to be prioritizing IPL over domestic cricket.

"Everybody wants to be selected in the squad. These are players who have been a part of the Indian team. So I believe that a press conference is very important after a team's selection. The chief selector should do a press conference and answer the journalists' questions," Tiwary said.

Tiwary then gave the idea of having a live telecast of the selection committee meeting, which would allow to judge the transparency of the selection of players.

"I had given a statement quite a few years ago. I don't know whether I should say this or not. I would like to see one thing going forward for more transparency between the fans and the game and that is the live telecast of selection committee meeting," the former India batter added.

Virender Sehwag predicts his middle order for 2026 T20 World Cup

Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag, who was also sitting in the panel stated that the Zimbabwe tour will allow the players to stake their claim in the full-strength India squad. Sehwag expects India to win this series and doesn't expect Zimbabwe to put up much fight.

"You've given such a great performance in the IPL. International selections are done through domestic cricket. This Zimbabwe tour is to check whether the players who performed exceedingly well in the IPL can play the same way in internationals or not. Let's see who performs in this series," Sehwag said.

"Earlier, during the 1990s, when we used to tour Zimbabwe, they had such a solid team that beating them wasn't easy. But since 2010, India have won every series in Zimbabwe despite sending any team. We'll most probably win this series too but it remains to be seen who performs. The players who perform will come in the next line to replace the senior players in the team. The players who perform against teams like Sri Lanka, West Indies, or Zimbabwe will be in focus for the selectors," the former India opener added.

Virender Sehwag also mentioned some of the batters that he predicts to play in the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup.

"From the selector's point of view, the players who will be in the middle order are Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube. The selectors are checking who can bat in the top three now in place of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli," he concluded.

India's tour of Zimbabwe consists of five T20Is. All the matches will be played in Harare from July 6 to July 14.
