Lockie Ferguson Bought By RCB For 2 Crores In IPL Auction 2024

Royal Challengers Bangalore, on Tuesday (December 19), signed up New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson in the IPL auction 2024. The right-arm pacer had registered himself at a base price of Rs 2 crore. He went unsold in the first round before getting an IPL contract in the accelerated auction. He, however, managed to attract just one bid and was sold at his base price to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Lockie Ferguson is one of the most sought-after fast bowlers in the world. His ability to extract pace and bounce on any surface makes him an asset for any team in the world, especially in India, where pacers seldom receive significant assistance from the pitch.

Since 2017, he has missed just one season of the IPL. His IPL journey began in 2017 when he was signed up by Rising Pune Supergiant. In his maiden season, he picked up 3 wickets in 4 games before being released and going unsold in 2018.

In the 2019 IPL auction, the New Zealand star was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders and plied his trade for them for three seasons before being released. In the IPL 2022 auction, Gujarat Titans signed him up. So far, he has played 38 games and has picked up 37 wickets. In the 2023 World Cup played in India, he picked up 10 wickets in 7 games.
