Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif shared his views on the future of veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Kaif said that whenever the two veterans retire, talented youngsters such as Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ruturaj Gaikwad have the ability to take Indian cricket forward on the global stage.
Team India recently completed a dominant 3-0 series sweep over Afghanistan and outplayed the visitors throughout the ODI series. In the third ODI in Chennai, Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with an unbeaten 110 off 86 balls, smashing 14 fours and three sixes as India chased down the target with 21.2 overs to spare.
When Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Move On... - Mohammad Kaif
Mohammad Kaif backed Ishan Kishan to play a bigger role for India in the future. He praised Kishan's leadership skills and batting ability, saying the wicketkeeper-batter has shown his potential during the IPL and could even become India's captain one day.
"When Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma move on, players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Gaikwad, & Ishan Kishan will get more opportunities. Ishan has been outstanding in the IPL, both as a batter and a leader. He has the qualities to become a future captain of India," Kaif said.

Ishan Kishan Impressed During India’s 3-0 ODI Sweep Over Afghanistan
Ishan Kishan impressed with the bat during India's ODI series against Afghanistan. Making his return to the ODI side for the first time since late 2023, he produced an impressive display with the bat, scoring 159 runs in two innings at a remarkable strike rate.
During the first ODI in Dharamshala, Ishan Kishan scored a quick 34 off 22 balls, hitting three fours and one six. He then produced a brilliant innings in Lucknow, smashing 125 off 79 balls with 14 fours and seven sixes against Afghanistan.
He added a massive 224-run partnership with Shubman Gill. However, Ishan did not get a chance to bat in the final ODI in Chennai, as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma comfortably guided India to the 219-run target with the loss of just one wicket.
Virat Kohli Returns for England ODIs as India Announce 15-Member Squad
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, which will be played from July 14 to July 19. The series will serve as another important step in India's preparations for future ICC events.
Virat Kohli has returned to the squad after missing the recent ODI series against Afghanistan because of a hamstring injury. However, his participation in the England series remains subject to fitness clearance. The selectors will closely monitor his recovery before making a final decision.
India have also recalled Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel. Bumrah was rested for the Afghanistan assignments, while Axar missed the series. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya remains unavailable due to a quadriceps injury, and Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been left out.
India have dominated England in bilateral ODI cricket in recent years. They swept England 3-0 at home last year and won the previous ODI series in England 2-1 in 2022. England's last bilateral ODI series victory over India came in 2018, when they secured a 2-1 win at home.
