The India National Cricket Team will be travelling to England for a white-ball tour against the England National Cricket Team. Shubman Gill’s side will be facing a three-match ODI series alongside a five-match T20I series. Previously, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the T20I series.

Now, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has named the 15-man squad for the ODI series as well. Shubman Gill will continue as the captain, and Shreyas Iyer will be his deputy. The team has been nearly the same, with some names added to the squad who were not present in the recently concluded ODI series against Afghanistan.

Virat Kohli added to the India squad

Virat Kohli has been added to the squad, but he will only be able to participate in the series as he is subject to clearance from the CoE, as he picked up a hamstring injury during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final against the Gujarat Titans (GT), which led him to miss the series against Afghanistan.

The Men in Blue will hope that Virat Kohli is fully fit and plays in the series, with his experience playing in England and batting at No.3 for India in this format having been breathtaking to watch. No better batter in India can replace the former captain’s place in the squad and bat with the responsibility that Kohli does.

Jasprit Bumrah returns to ODI squad; Jaiswal dropped

Rohit Sharma will be continuing as an opener as the veteran has been in decent form in the last series vs Afghanistan, where he scored 48 and 79 in the last two games. Apart from Rohit, Ishan Kishan has been in the squad for his excellent performances across white-ball cricket in recent times. However, the latter might be a back-up for KL Rahul in the squad.

Prince Yadav and Harsh Dubey, who made their debut in the last series, have been dropped, with Jasprit Bumrah coming back into the side as he is set to play his first ODI since November 19th, 2023. Harshit Rana has been added to the squad in place of Prince Yadav, and Axar Patel has come back into the side.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has also been dropped from the side, despite scoring a hundred in the last ODI and performing beautifully. However, the Southpaw might be added to the side if Virat Kohli is not available for the series.

Varun Chakravarthy ruled out

Except for the England squad, the Men in Blue side has been struck with a setback as Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the Ireland series, which is scheduled to begin on 28th June, 2026. The spinner is in the final stages of his rehab at the BCCI COE following his left foot injury sustained in the IPL 2026 while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Ahead of the ODI series, there are 8 T20Is scheduled for the Men in Blue side, with three against Ireland and then England. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be one of the players to watch out for in the shortest format series as he has been fast-tracked to the senior team.

India's ODI squad: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli*, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar.

India’s updated squad for Ireland T20Is: Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (Vice-Captain), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Prasidh Krishna.
