India captain Rohit Sharma is currently going through a tough phase in his cricket career. However, he has received some support from the former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu during these difficult times.

Sidhu reminded everyone of India's T20 World Cup 2024 win and claimed that the Men in Blue are still a force in limited-overs cricket. He also praised Suryakumar Yadav, who took over Rohit Sharma as India's captain in T20Is.

Ex-India cricketer backs Rohit Sharma despite India's defeat in BGT 2024-25

Navjot Singh Sidhu took to social media and reminded India of the T20 World Cup win in 2024. India recently lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 but Sidhu opted to look at the positives.

He lauded the team's captain Rohit for leading India to the title win in the T20 World Cup 2024. Sidhu also praised Suryakumar Yadav for India's fantastic results under his captaincy in the T20I format.

India still top of the 🌍 in limited overs cricket , won the World Cup 2024 under @ImRo45and has won 14 out of 17 T -20 matches under the dynamic @surya_14kumar 82% wins - post World Cup 2023 won 9 out of 10 matches , result 90% defeating SA and Sri Lanka in their own den …. Sky is the limit for India in the shorter version of the game. Much better to look at the brighter side of life" Sidhu posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Navjot Singh Sidhu had previously spoken in favor of Rohit Sharma as well. He backed Rohit to make a comeback despite speculations on his retirement.

Rohit Sharma in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Rohit Sharma was in poor batting form in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where he scored just 31 runs in three Tests at an average of 6.20. He didn't look confident in any of his knocks and even dropped himself from the last match in Sydney.

Rohit played the second, third, and fourth Tests of the series after missing the first match due to the birth of his second child. In his absence, Jasprit Bumrah led India in the first and fifth Tests of the series.

Mixed year for Rohit Sharma

Meanwhile, it was a mixed year for Rohit Sharma in 2024. He led India to a T20 World Cup win in 2024 with excellent batting performances and impressive captaincy. Rohit scored 257 runs in eight matches of the tournament at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 156.70. He also emerged as the second-highest run-getter of the tournament.

After leading India to the T20 World Cup 2024 win, his form dipped significantly and his form went from bad to worse in the Test format. He had a poor home Test season as he struggled for runs against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

In 10 home Tests prior to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rohit scored 133 runs at an average of just 13.30. He had just one half-century to his name during this period and his best was 52.
