For a player who did not attract a single bid in the IPL mega auction, Shardul Thakur has set the stage on fire in the ongoing IPL 2025. One of the leading allrounders in the country, the Mumbai star went unsold in the last auction.

After that snub, he enjoyed a stunning season in domestic cricket and recently signed for Essex to play in county cricket. However, he got an IPL lifeline just before the start of the ongoing season when Lucknow Super Giants signed him up as an injury replacement for their fast-bowler Mohsin Khan.

And while it has been only two games so far, Shardul Thakur has pretty much justified the franchise's decision.

He opened the bowling for them in their season-opener against Delhi Capitals and made an instant impact by dismissing the dangerous Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel in his very first game. Even though LSG went on to lose the game, Shardul Thakur earned praise from all around for his show.

Shardul Thakur on fire against SRH:

Shardul Thakur has become the talk of the town once again after making a huge impact with the ball against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday (March 27). While SRH batters have been an absolute nightmare to bowl at for most of the pacers since last season, Shardul Thakur managed to come out on top against them that too in the powerplay.

He opened the bowling for LSG once again and bowled a fine first over, conceding only six runs. In his second over, Shardul Thakur took two wickets on successive deliveries to put LSG in the driver's seat. On the very first ball of the over, he dismissed the dangerous Abhishek Sharma with a short ball.

And on the following delivery, the allrounder dismissed Ishan Kishan who had scored a century in the previous match. For his hat-trick ball, he bowled a pinpoint yorker but Nitish Reddy managed to dig it out.

While Thakur could not complete a hat-trick, he has been receiving praise from all around for his brilliant display against SRH.

Here are some of the reactions:

Talking about the game, SRH were on 71/2 after 7 overs at the time of writing this report. Travis Head was batting on 47 while Reddy was unbeaten on 15.
