Ricky Ponting was having an interaction with the ICC Review and was asked about Virat Kohli. “It’s great to see him back in the runs. Great to see him back with a smile on his face. That’s the thing you know?” said Ponting.

“He was so happy, and I guess (he’s) relieved at the end of that game. He obviously spoke very fondly about his wife’s influence on the last couple of years of his life as well, which is also very nice to hear. A lot of that stuff goes unspoken about, in men’s sport in particular,” said the Australian

“Just the impact that your family and your very close ones have on you through your career. So it’s nice to hear that but also great to see Virat back in the runs again,” concluded Ponting

Too much Dependence on Virat Kohli

The former skipper made a statement that he still has the hunger to perform for his nation. The batter knows now that the opposing teams would be well prepared and would do a lot of study on his technique. The management knows that once again Virat will have to carry the burden of the team.

We have seen it quite a few times that whenever Virat fails the team surrenders to the opposition. This is not a good sign and this has been the main reason behind India’s downfall in ICC Tournaments. The Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be worried as the team doesn’t have a reliant middle order batter as Suryakumar can’t play long enough innings.
