During the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match no.59 between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), LSG pacer Akash Singh was excellent on the night he got his first game in the IPL 2026. This was his first game in a year, since he last played in 2025 in the same month of May.

Akash Singh picked up three wickets in the match and finished off with his best bowling figures of 4/26 in his four overs. The left-arm pacer picked the big wickets Ruturaj Gaikwad (13), Sanju Samson (20), and Urvil Patel (6). He has bowled excellent line and length, which impressed everyone in the commentary box, and also his owner MR. Sanjiv Goenka.

The note says it all- Sanjiv Goenka praises Akash Singh

Akash Singh, after picking up the first wicket of his former captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, brought out a note celebration. Gaikwad went for a pull shot and mistimed, hitting the higher part of the bat, and the ball went towards mid-on, and Nicholas Pooran took an easy catch.

After that, he brought out the note where it was written: "#Akki on fire - Akash knows how to take wickets in a T20 game." He has been one of the finest talents in Indian cricket, but has not gotten enough chances and has also been inconsistent and injury-prone.

Sajiv Goenka tweeted on X (formerly Twitter), "Akash, three crucial wickets tonight. Well done. The note says it all, you showed exactly how to take those wickets in a T20 game. Keep at it, Akki. Proud of you."

Akash Singh's redemption starts?

Before this match vs CSK in IPL 2026, Akash Singh had played 10 matches in the tournament, taking nine wickets. He was a part of the Men in Yellow side, but did not get enough chances in the side. Akash has also changed his run-up a bit as he has now come a bit open-chested while releasing the ball.

He made his debut for Rajasthan Royals in 2021, playing just one game for a spell of 2 for 40. But the pacer has warmed the bench most of the time. With LSG out of contention and him getting to play, he needs to revamp himself and perform in every possible match from now to be a starter next season.

Akash's IPL overall record:

Kartik Sharma shines for CSK

Coming to the match, LSG won the toss and elected to field first. CSK, after being invited to bat first, were struggling; however, Dewald Brevis and Kartik Sharma stitched a 70-run partnership off 44 deliveries and brought back the Men in Yellow in the game.

Kartik has been dismissed after playing a knock of 71 runs; he smashed six fours and five sixes in his blistering innings. CSK are now 162/5 with one over and two more balls left to play and Shivam Dube and Prashant Veer will look to finish off well.
