Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be eyeing another win when they take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 13th game of the ongoing IPL 2025. The match will be played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday (April 1).
Lucknow Super Giants' campaign under new captain Rishabh Pant did not start on a good note. They suffered a heartbreaking 1-run loss against Delhi Capitals even after remaining on the front foot for most of the game.
After scoring 209/8, Lucknow Super Giants had reduced DC to 65/5. However, they could not close out the game as a brilliant fifty from Ashutosh Sharma powered DC to an unlikely victory.
Lucknow Super Giants, however, bounced back in style and beat high-flying Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets in their second game. Set a target of 191 runs, LSG chased down the total in just 16.1 overs with Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran scoring fifties.
With Lucknow Super Giants eyeing their second win of the season, we are taking a look at the LSG Playing 11 for their game against PBKS.
LSG Playing 11 vs Punjab Kings- IPL 2025, Match 13:
Openers: Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh
Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh are set to be the openers in the LSG Playing 11 for the upcoming game. Even though Markram has failed to deliver with the bat in the first two games, he is expected to retain his spot in the Lucknow Super Giants' Playing 11.
However, the South Africa star risks getting dropped from the team if he fails to deliver once again. Unlike Markram, Marsh has been in stunning form with the bat so far.
Playing only as a batsman, the Australian star has given Lucknow Super Giants a strong start with the bat in both games. In the first game against DC, he scored 72 before scoring 52 against SRH. He will be eyeing another impactful outing with the bat.
Middle-order: Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), David Miller, Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, Shardul Thakur
Nicholas Pooran has been in red-hot form with the bat, and Lucknow Super Giants will be hoping that their star batsman delivers another batting masterclass. He scored 75 runs off just 30 balls against DC before smashing 70 runs off 26 balls against SRH.
While captain Rishabh Pant guided Lucknow Super Giants to a win in the previous game against SRH, he is yet to fire with the bat. He was out for a duck in the first game against DC before scoring a run-a-ball 15 against SRH when there was no pressure. Pant will be keen to lead the team from the front in the upcoming match.
Ayush Badoni also failed to impress with the bat against SRH, scoring a run-a-ball six, and will be eyeing a better show against PBKS. David Miller scored an unbeaten 13 runs off 7 balls against SRH. While he scored only 13 runs, his calm presence helped LSG recover from two quick setbacks and finally cross the finishing line with ease.
When LSG lost the wickets of Pant and Badoni in quick succession, Abdul Samad calmed down the nerves in the dressing room by playing a fine cameo of 22 runs off just 8 balls against his former team.
Shardul Thakur is set to be allrounder in the LSG Playing 11. While he did not get the chance with the bat against SRH, he made a huge impact with the ball. In his second over, Thakur dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan on successive deliveries and finished the game with figures of 4 for 34. He will be looking to deliver with the ball again.
Bowlers: Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Digvesh Rathi
The LSG Playing 11 is likely to have one pacer and two spinners, while Prince Yadav is expected to be used as an impact sub. Ravi Bishnoi and Digvesh Rathi are set to be the two spinners, while Avesh Khan will be the fast bowler.
