Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has come up with the final names of retained players for IPL Auction 2025. BCCI had informed all franchises to submit their list of retained players for IPL Auction 2025 by October 31 (Thursday).

According to the rules for IPL Auction 2025, each team can retain a total of 6 players in their squad for IPL 2025. They can retain them directly ahead of the auction or with a Right To Match card during the mega auction.

However, out of these 6 players, a maximum of 5 can be capped players while 2 can be uncapped players. Hence, each team can either pick 5 capped and 1 uncapped or 4 capped and 2 uncapped players. Notably, they can also pick less than 6 players for retentions now and get the others through RTM later.

Lucknow Super Giants finished in 7th spot last season

Lucknow Super Giants was a dominant team in its first two seasons in 2022 and 2023, where they reached the playoffs. However, they could not replicate a similar show last season in 2024.

Led by KL Rahul, LSG won 7 games and lost 7 games out of 14. With 14 points, they ended in the 7th spot in the points table. Interestingly, all the four teams ranked at 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th spots had an equal number of 14 points. Hence, net run rate played a key role in LSG's ouster from playoffs.

Best performers for LSG last season

LSG skipper KL Rahul showed wonderful form with the bat last season and slammed 520 runs in 14 games. He slammed 4 fifties but held a strike rate of 136+.

West Indies stalwart Nicholas Pooran showed stunning form with the bat with 499 runs in 14 games. At an average of 62+ and a strike rate of 178+, he was a batter to watch out for in the season.

Among bowlers, Afghanistan sensation Naveen-ul-Haq grabbed 14 wickets in 10 games for the side. Yash Thakur (11 wickets), Ravi Bishnoi (10 wickets), and Mohsin Khan (10 wickets) were the others with the most scalps for the side. Hence, no LSG bowler could execute a stellar performance in the season.

As a result, LSG needs quite a few changes in their squad during IPL Auction 2025. Notably, they were expected to pull off playoff entry last season too, however, they could not come up with an outstanding finish. Some players were in focus for retentions, however, many others would lose their spots after the IPL Auction 2025.
