Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Andre Russell couldn't make a bigger impact with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The match between the two teams took place at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Andre Russell, who was promoted to No.4, couldn't set the stage on fire as he was removed by the brilliance of Krishnappa Gowtham on the field. The batter tried to hit the ball out of the park but couldn't get the connection right and the move to send him up failed.

During the 2nd ball of the 15th over, Naveen-ul-Haq bowled a full delivery that was wide of off-stump and Andre Russell only managed to slice it in the air. Krishnappa Gowtham, who came as a subfielder, ran back from extra cover and kept his eye on the ball. He put his dive to perfection and took a brilliant catch.

What caught the attention of many was the reaction of Jonty Rhodes in the dugout. The fielding coach of the Lucknow Super Giants was elated and applauded the catch. He was left disappointed after the team dropped a few catches earlier.

Here's the video:

Andre Russell scored 12 runs off 8 balls at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. He slammed 1 four and 1 six in his innings. His wicket saw the Kolkata Knight Riders getting reduced to 167/3.

After Andre Russell got out, skipper Shreyas Iyer (23) and Rinku Singh (16) played vital hands before Ramandeep Singh finished the innings on high for the team. The all-rounder scored an unbeaten 25 runs off just 6 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes.

Earlier Phil Salt (32) and Sunil Narine (81) gave a power-packed side to the team whereas Angkrish Raghuvanshi (32) played a vital hand as well for the team at No.3 based on the collective effort with the bat, Kolkata Knight Riders posted a gigantic total of 235 runs on the board.

I feel we will win this one - Angkrish Raghuvanshi

Angkrish Raghuvanshi talked about the batting performance of his team and claimed that they had put a good score on the board. He also lauded Sunil Narine for his magnificent batting and added that he enjoyed batting with an all-rounder. He expressed:

"It’s a good score but to be honest I can’t tell you what’s a good score in this IPL. It’s red soil, it’s a bit like Bombay, and there’s good bounce on it. Sunny was timing them really well, my role was to pass it onto him, it was so much fun to bat with him.

"It was just about keeping the momentum going as we knew we had some big names finishing the game. There’s absolutely no dew. Records are meant to be broken but our bowlers are in tremendous form so I feel we will win this one," he concluded.
