Young Indian sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the limelight with a scintillating unbeaten century in a one-sided affair between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium in Jaipur on Monday, April 22.

Fans at the Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium witnessed a breathtaking display of cricketing prowess from Jaiswal as the young opener guided the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a resounding nine-wicket victory over the five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2024 clash.

The left-handed batter’s fabulous knock was nothing short of spectacular, as he displayed a wide array of strokes and dominated the Mumbai Indians (MI) bowling attack from the outset. With precision timing and exquisite placement, Jaiswal made 104* off 60 balls against Mumbai, unleashing 9 boundaries and 7 sixes along the way in Jaipur.

After Yashasvi Jaiswal's celebration, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel light up Jaipur with their mimicry

Jaiswal's innings not only helped the Rajasthan Royals (RR) secure their seventh win of this season but also made him only the sixth player to score two centuries against a single opponent (MI) in the IPL. Furthermore, at just 22 years of age, Jaiswal became the first player in IPL history to notch two centuries against the same opponent before turning 23 against the MI.

Speaking about the celebration, when Jaiswal reached his fifty, jubilation was evident on his face since he was struggling for a big score in the ongoing IPL 2024 until this inning. On reaching his half-century, he performed a muscle celebration', turning towards the dressing room.

Well, when he notched up the three figures, Yashasvi, removing his helmet, unleashed his signature move, leaping into the air with arms wide open in jubilation to mark his century against MI. However, this celebration was not over here, as the Rajasthan players also pulled it out again after the match.

Following his instrumental role in RR securing a massive win over MI, Jaiswal joined his teammates Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel in celebration. A video capturing Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel copying Jaiswal's century celebration has taken the internet by storm. In the viral clip, the RR trio shares moments of laughter before celebrating the 22-year-old batting sensation’s return to form.

I am just trying to make it big: Yashasvi Jaiswal

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal said in the post-match interview: “I am just trying to make it big whenever I'm set. In Test cricket you never know, I try to make sure I play as long as I can when I'm set. It was pretty difficult, initially, I was not getting runs so I had to play the session and play the bowler. Then when I got set, I could score the runs.

I had my plans about where I could play my shots and get runs. After some time, my back was not good. I did not want to go out but I had to go out because it was too much. When I came back, I tried to give myself time and take it as deep as I could. I knew that if I was there, I would take the game forward and be there till the end.”

However, Jaiswal was not awarded the Player of the Match award despite his outstanding century against the MI. Instead, RR pacer Sandeep Sharma bagged the honor for his superb bowling spell of 5/18 in his quota of 4 overs against the MI in Jaipur.

Sandeep impressed with his exceptional bowling performance in the first half of the match, dismissing Ishan Kishan (0), Suryakumar Yadav (10), Tilak Varma (65), Tim David (3), and Gerald Coetzee (0) to become the fourth bowler in IPL history to achieve a five-wicket haul against MI.
