"Lynch mob comes after you": Virat Kohli's 'exit plan' should become BCCI's priority, claims ex-cricketer

India's star cricketer Virat Kohli has gone through many phases in his glorious career. He has gone through a no. of ups and downs so far. But the current phase can be termed as one of the most difficult and worst for him over the years.
Kohli is currently playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where he has looked woefully out of form barring a couple of innings. His poor form is a huge concern for India and former cricketer Atul Wassan thinks this way too.
While speaking on the retirement of Kohli, Wassan reckons that his run of poor form has been too long now and the selectors along with the team management must have a plan ready for the future.

"A lynch mob comes after you" - Atul Wassan on Virat Kohli's form
While speaking to ANI, Atul Wassan shed light on Kohli's poor form and its effect on India's results. The former India cricketer said that Kohli knows well about his form but a player is always positive.
Wassan also claimed that Kohli's form is hurting India's chances of winning matches and there have been lots of questions over his position in the team.
"Virat (Kohli) has got runs, but he also knows what's happening. They are very sorted mentally. A player always thinks that 'my best is around the corner'. I'll do it just now.' It's such a long spell; it's hurting the team, and there is questioning, saying you should be dropped. A lynch mob comes after you," Wassan said.

Atul Wassan advises selectors to decide on Virat Kohli's successor
Atul Wassan also feels that a succession plan must be ready for Virat Kohli which will allow India to get through the transition period without any problems. But as of now, there is no clarity on that plan.
"They also know what is going on. I think an exit plan, like a succession policy, must be clear, it's not fair on the management, the team and the cricketing structure, we don't know what's there in your mind," he reckoned.
Team India are going through a transition phase. Many of the team's senior players are in their high-thirties and can take a call on their careers anytime. Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement after the third Test at Gabba against Australia.
Meanwhile, the pressure is increasing on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to take a final call. Both the batters have been struggling for runs recently and their poor form has cost India's results as well.
Virat Kohli in BGT 2024-25
Virat Kohli's problems outside off stump are not looking to end soon. The 36-year-old has been consistently troubled by the balls on fourth and fifth stump throughout this series and the bowlers haven't had to do much to send him back to the pavilion.
Kohli has scored 167 runs in four Tests of the series so far at an average of 27.83. He scored 100* in the second innings at Perth and a good-looking 36 in the first innings at MCG. Apart from that, he hasn't been able to stay at the crease for long.
