The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been making a comeback in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL). In their last 7 games, they have won 6 games. Ajinkya Rahane and his boys have picked up the momentum in the second half of the tournament. Amidst all these, serious negative news, as per reports, Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruled out of IPL 2026.
As per a tweet from Rohit Juglan on X (formerly Twitter), he tweeted that Angkrish Raghuvanshi is out of the tournament. The news comes right ahead of KKR’s must-win next match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The star boy of the Knights had a concussion in the last game against the Mumbai Indians.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi out of IPL
The incident happened when Varun Chakravarthy was bowling, and a mistimed shot from Tilak Varma went straight up in the air. Angrkish Raghuvanshi and Varun collided while taking the catch, which was unfortunately dropped. Soon after two overs, Angkrish was taken off the field, citing a concussion, with Tejasvi Dahiya used as a substitute, and he kept the wickets as well.
Ramandeep Singh was initially picked as the substitute by KKR to replace their 21-year-old cricketer. But the franchise later sent uncapped wicketkeeper Tejasvi Singh Dahiya under the IPL’s like-for-like replacement rule.
However, as per the latest reports coming now, the youngster also has a fracture to a finger on his left hand. This is a big blow for the Knights as he has been their best batter in the tournament. He also took the wicket-keeping duties to maintain the balance in the side, and has also batted as well, with lots of responsibility.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi leading scorer for KKR
Even if Angkrish Raghuvanshi was fit after recovering from his concussion, he could not have participated in the last game against DC, due to the concussion rule, which states that any player suffering a concussion would have to be out for at least 7 days in terms of the recovery process.
The 21-year-old keeper batter is the leading run-getter so far in IPL 2026 for the Purple and Gold, scoring 422 runs at an average of 42.2 and a strike-rate of 146.52 with five half-centuries to his name. In Angkrish Raghuvanshi's absence, it will surely change the balance for KKR as they would have to find a solution in the top order.
Manish Pandey to bat at No.3
In the last game, Manish Pandey came out to bat at No.3 for the Knights. The veteran cricketer has the experience of batting for the Knights and has won matches consistently for the three-time champions, as he used to bat in that very position since he joined the squad in 2014.
Manish Pandey was the Player of the Match for his excellent innings of 45 runs. He might be the one who bats in that No.3 position in the absence of Raghuvanshi. However, KKR will surely miss their star boy if they go on to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2026.
