Mayank Markande Replaced By Shams Mulani In The Rest of India Team After Sustaining Injury To His Right Index Finger

Mayank Markande has been replaced in the Rest of India (ROI) side for the Irani Cup by Mumbai’s left-arm spinner Shams Mulani. The competition will begin on Wednesday at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium in Gwalior and pit ROI against Madhya Pradesh, the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy champions.
According to a BCCI announcement, Markande suffered a training-related injury to his right index finger and has been disqualified from the competition.

Shams Mulani Added To The Rest of India Squad Led By Mayank Agarwal
With 130 wickets at an outstanding average of 23.91 in 26 first-class games, 10 five-wicket hauls, and 8 four-wicket hauls, Shams Mulani has an impressive resume. Shams Mulani had 46 wickets at an average of 23.89 in seven Ranji Trophy games this season, leading Mumbai in wicket-taking.
The squad’s captain is Mayank Agarwal, who led the team in runs during the just-finished Ranji Trophy season. The game is scheduled to begin in Gwalior on March 1. Sarfaraz Khan of Mumbai, who had a finger injury, was not included in the 16-person ROI squad, nevertheless.
Agarwal, who hopes to rejoin the Test team, would probably bat with Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran. The third India-Australia Test, which begins on that day, was awarded the privilege to be played at the Holkar Stadium, hence the game was moved from Indore to Gwalior.
