Meg Lanning Jumps Two Spots To No. 2 In ICC ODI Rankings, Alyssa Healy Continues To Top

Australian captain Meg Lanning made progress in the ICC ODI Women’s rankings after her performance in their opening match of the 2022 ODI World Cup against England. She is now in second place only behind fellow teammate, Alyssa Healy.
Lanning scored 86 in 110 balls including seven fours and a six in the game against their arch-rivals. On the back of her knock, the Aussies piled up 310/3 on the board, which was 12 runs too many for the English women.

With that, she is now only 15 rating points behind Healy. Aside from her, Player of the Match, Rachael Haynes jumped six spots to reach 7th place. She scored 130 off 131 balls and her partnership with Lanning was the highlight of the game.
During the run chase, England batter Natalie Sciver also scored a century albeit it went futile. Nevertheless, she also entered the top 10, now occupying sixth place from her previous ranking of 11th.

West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews’ all-round show helped defeat the hosts and one of the favourites, New Zealand. She scored 119 and helped the Windies to put up 260 on the board before taking two wickets with the ball in hand.
Tammy Beaumont dropped down to third place with 725 points and Indian captain, Mithali Raj, is in fourth with 718 points. With the Women’s World Cup set to continue for the entirety of the month, there are plenty of opportunities for the women to rise up in the rankings.
