In the 49th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2020-21, Melbourne Renegades will combat Brisbane Heat on January 23 (Saturday) in Melbourne. This will be the second meeting of the two sides. Heat had registered a comfortable win against Renegades in the first meeting.
But Melbourne Renegades are coming off an unbelievable win in their last match against arch-rival Melbourne Stars. Notably, this was only their third win of the season. They have lost nine matches out of 12 played and are lying at the bottom of the points table.
Even if they win the match against Brisbane Heat, it’s hard for them to return to the competition and enter the playoffs. But the win against the Heat will boost some confidence and help them to end the tournament on a high note.
Here let’s take a look at Melbourne Renegades’ predicted playing XI:
Aaron Finch (c):

Melbourne Renegades captain Aaron Finch is the main man of his side. The team totally depends on his batting display but he hasn’t stood up to the expectation. In the last six matches, he hasn’t even 20 runs in a match while has been out for duck two times. With only two matches left to play, the southpaw will look to score runs for his side.
Shaun Marsh:

After attending the birth of his child, Shaun Marsh returned in the playing XI against Brisbane Heat. However, he could not open his account as he was out for a duck. In the last match, he scored only one run. Melbourne Renegades will hope that he gets a good sum of runs on the board as the team heavily depends on him.
Sam Harper (wk):

Sam Harper has played a couple of gritty knocks like unbeaten 66 runs off 52 balls against Hobart Hurricanes. In the last match as well, he scored 39 off 34 balls after the early loss of openers. He will look to again make amends as both the openers are still struggling.
Mackenzie Harvey:

Mackenzie Harvey guided the side to an unbelievable win in the last match against Melbourne Stars. While chasing 159 runs, Harvey mustered a match-winning partnership with Beau Webster in which he scored unbeaten 47 runs off 21 balls. His knock guided Melbourne Renegades to the third victory of the season.
Beau Webster:

The all-rounder Beau Webster, who has also played for Hobart Hurricanes, played yet another crucial knock for his side. He stitched up an important partnership with Harvey and scored 22 runs off just nine balls in which he struck three fours and one giant six.?? Melbourne Renegades will hope that he again charge up the innings against Brisbane Heat.
Jake Fraser-McGurk:

The 18-year-old Jake Fraser-McGurk, who was dropped after a low string of runs, returned in the playing XI when Melbourne Renegades meet Adelaide Strikers for the first time. Since then, he has played some impressive knocks although hasn’t been able to convert them into big ones. In the last match, he gave stability to the side after the early loss of openers.
Imad Wasim:

The Pakistan allrounder Imad Wasim picked the important wicket of Glenn Maxwell for one run in the last match. He was also economical, giving away 24 runs in his four overs. Overall in eight matches, he has picked up eight wickets.
Jack Prestwidge:

The 24-year-old Jack Prestwidge went wicketless against Melbourne Stars; which was the last match of the Melbourne Renegades. He also conceded 37 runs in his four overs. The all-rounder will hope to add more wickets to his tally with only two games left to be played.
Kane Richardson:

Kane Richardson, who missed out on the limited-overs leg of Australia against India, had an impressive start of the 10th season of BBL. However, the pacer has gone expensive. In the last match, he was rested while Josh Lalor was given his place. Richardson is likely to return in the playing XI.
Peter Hatzoglou:

The leg-spinner Peter Hatzoglou has given breakthroughs although the results for Melbourne Renegades have not changed. But in the last match, he picked the crucial wicket of Nic Maddison to cut short Melbourne Stars’ innings. Overall, he picked up two wickets while gave away 34 runs in his four overs.
Zak Evans:

The 20-year-old Zak Evans played only his third match of the season against Melbourne Stars and turned out to be the significant contributor. He notched the all-important wicket of Marcus Stoinis and allrounder Nathan Coulter-Nile. The pacer is expected to play against Brisbane Heat to take revenge for the defeat in the first meeting.
