Mumbai Indians’ franchise in the upcoming Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 league, MI Cape Town, has confirmed the signing of five players Rashid Khan, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Kagiso Rabada, and Dewald Brevis.

The announcement was made ahead of the auction. The six franchises have been allowed to sign five cricketers (3 overseas, 1 South African international, and 1 South African uncapped) before the bidding takes place.

I’m excited as we begin our journey in building MI Cape Town,” Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio, said. “With our direct player signings, we have taken the first step towards building the MI philosophy – having a strong core around which the team will be planned. I am glad to welcome Rashid, Kagiso, Liam, Sam, to the #OneFamily and happy to have Dewald continue with us on this new journey.

MI Cape Town first team to confirm five signings

Cape Town is the first team to confirm the names ahead of the auction. They can have 12 more players in their team as the league has limited the number of members on the roster to 17.

Several marquee players have confirmed their participation in the league as well but are yet to join a franchise. While Livingstone and Buttler will earn $US500,000 each, Moeen will take home $400,000, and du Plessis will pocket $350,000.

As for the likes of Curran, Eoin Morgan, David Miller, Quinton de Kock, and Rabada, they will be taking home $300,000 each for their services.

Apart from English players, 10 Sri Lankans have also registered their names but there are no Pakistan names after their national board withheld the NOCs from the players in order to manage their workload.
