MI vs KKR IPL 2024 Match 51 - Kolkata Knight Riders innings: Venkatesh Iyer and Manish Pandey play vital hands for Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders were asked to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They were off to the worst possible start with the bat as they lost wickets early and were under pressure. Phil Salt (5) fell early and after that, it triggered the collapse of the team.

Kolkata Knight Riders lost wickets like a pack of cards. Sunil Narine (5), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (13), Shreyas Iyer (6), and Rinku Singh (6) fell early. They looked clueless against the Mumbai Indians pacer and were left tottering at 57/5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

They brought in Manish Pandey as the impact sub and the move paid off. The batter played a decent knock and along with Venkatesh Iyer bailed Kolkata Knight Riders out of the trouble. They soaked in all the pressure and made sure that they got some runs for the team in difficult situations.

The duo added 83 runs for the opening partnership before Pandey perished for 42 runs. Iyer on the other hand carried on and scored a magnificent half-century. After Pandey got out, he didn't get the support and batted till the end. He scored 70 runs as Kolkata Knight Riders managed 169 runs.

For Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 3/18. Apart from him, Nuwan Thushara also bagged three wickets. Skipper Hardik Pandya picked two scalps whereas Piyush Chawla bagged one wicket as they bundled out the opposition for a low total.

Rohit Sharma (11), Naman Dhir (11), Tilak Varma (4), Nehal Wadhera (6) and Hardik Pandya (1) fell in quick succession of time as Mumbai Indians were left tottering at 71/6. Suryakumar Yadav (56) kept his team in the hunt with his vital half-century but after he got out, Tim David (24) tried his best but Mumbai Indians lost wickets quickly with Mitchell Starc picking 4 wickets and helping the team bundling out opposition for 145 runs, losing the game by 24 runs.
