Former England captain Michael Vaughan touched the Indian fans’ nerve by taking a jibe at Indian captain Virat Kohli. While speaking to Spark Sport, Michael Vaughan lavished praises on New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and claimed that if the Kiwi skipper were an Indian, he would’ve been the most famous player. The same did not go well with Wasim Jaffer, with Vaughan and the former Indian opener engaging in a hilarious banter.
Michael Vaughan has often taken a dig on the Indian players of late, especially since the Test series between India and England, with the Englishmen getting turning tracks from day one. When asked the 46-year old about who plays well in the English conditions ahead of the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand in Southampton, Vaughan commented that Kohli struggles against the moving ball for the most part, while Williamson has been successful.
He also backed the Kiwi captain to score more runs in the English summer than Virat. Michael Vaughan also conceded that people hardly say Virat Kohli is not the greatest due to the flak they would receive on social media. Thus, he opined that people claim so to get more likes and followers.
The 2005-Ashes winning captain hailed Williamson for his humility and calm demeanour, stating he is equally good across formats. Earlier, Wasim Jaffer accused the Englishman of poking unnecessarily and Vaughan responded by saying “I presume you are agreeing with me Wasim”
