The former England captain Michael Vaughan has been cleared of using racist language by the England & Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Cricket Discipline Committee. Michael Vaughan was accused of using discriminatory language towards a group of Asian teammates before a Yorkshire match in 2009.
Azim Rafique alleged that Michael Vaughn told him before a match in 2009, “There are so many of you, we have to do something about it”. However, the former England captain denied the allegations. The Cricket Disciplinary Commission (CDC) panel said on Friday that they were not satisfied on the balance of probabilities that Vaughan had spoken those words.

Vaughan took to Instagram to announce that the charges against him had been dismissed. The former cricketer thanked the panel for their attention and those who supported him during his difficult time.
“Now that the ECB’s charge against me has been dismissed, I want to thank the panel for their careful attention in very difficult circumstances and to thank all of those who have given me their support during an incredibly difficult period in my life,” Michael Vaughan wrote.

“There’s too many of you lot, we need to do something about that” in earshot of four Yorkshire players of Asian heritage before a T20 fixture at Trent Bridge had not been proven “on the balance of probabilities,” verdict released on Friday, the CDC said its panel.
The ECB laid charges against Yorkshire and seven of the club’s former players in June last year, and the CDC investigation was made public earlier this month. Vaughan was the only person to appear in person to defend himself, but Hoggard, Bresnan, Blaine, Gale, and Pyrah all withdrew from the trial. Hoggard gave a qualified acceptance of the charges, but all the others denied them outright.
Vaughan denied the claim to Rafiq, Adil Rashid, Ajmal Shahzad, and Rana Naved-ul-Haq, and his lawyer blamed the ECB’s handling of the issue, arguing it was inadequate and violated due process.
