England's legendary skipper Michael Vaughan, with a recent X post, ensured all were aware of his safe exit following the scary incident at Australia's Bondi Beach. Vaughan was locked in a restaurant alongside many others when terrorists planned a sudden attack.

Australians woke up to a horrifying scene from one of their prime tourist spots along the southern coast, as a deadly shooting incident sent a ray of shockwaves across the nation. People panicked on the beach as two shooters opened fire on a large crowd of people, killing almost 10 civilians and leaving many critically injured.

Australia is currently hosting the English cricket team for the Ashes, and as a result of it, many other sports personalities, like the former England skipper Michael Vaughan, are in the nation concerned with commentator duties. He was present on the beach during that time, which raises a question about the security of the people.

Sydney's Bondi Beach shooting killed almost 10 people

According to the initial reports, the shooting took place after 6:30 pm in Sydney, at one of the most famous locations known for gatherings of thousands of people. Moreover, people gathered for a seaside event marking the beginning of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.

The footage and the reports have claimed that around 50 or more shots were fired by the armed men, and the crowd went berserk, as several victims lay motionless or injured to the North of Bondi.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the scenes as “shocking and distressing.”

Viral footage shows a Civilian taking down the gunman in a heroic move

The chaos unfolded when a civilian was spotted in the footage taking down the gunman in a heroic showdown. The man sneaked around the parked cars and suddenly pounced onto one of the shooters. He then wrestled with the shooter, dropped him to the ground, and snatched away his rifle.

The civilian then pointed the gun at the shooter and forced him to back away. Supposedly, the clip came from someone shooting it off their phone camera from one of the nearby buildings. Though the civilian remains unknown, maybe due to security concerns, many have thanked him for saving the lives of so many people and have praised his bravery.

Michael Vaughan made a lucky exit after being held captive at Bondi

During this entire incident, former English captain Michael Vaughan was present in the same venue. Had anything happened to the visiting English commentator, it would have been a disgrace to the nation on the international front.

The English captain, with several other people, took shelter in a restaurant until the forces arrived to rescue them. He also went on to thank the courageous man who took down one of the shooters right in time.

"Being locked in a restaurant in Bondi was scary ... Now home safe... but thanks so much to the emergency services and the guy who confronted the terrorist... thoughts with all who have been affected... xxx" Michael Vaughan posted on his official X handle after the incident.
