Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly expressed delight over the allocation of venues for the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. Sourav Ganguly pointed out that India didn’t host the T20 World Cup at home under his tenure due to the pandemic in 2021.

India were the host of the T20 World Cup 2021 as per the ICC’s plan. However, the tournament had been moved to the United Arab Emirates due to the COVID-19 situation in India. The Men in Blue failed to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament after losing crucial matches.

India To Kickoff Their Campaign In The World Cup Against Australia

It will be the first ODI World Cup to be held entirely in India. India co-hosted the event with neighboring nations in 1987, 1996, and 2011. The semi-final matches will be played in Mumbai and Kolkata, respectively. The final match will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19.

India will take on Australia in their first match of the tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8. The Rohit Sharma-led team will play against nine teams in nine different venues. Notably, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad has not been allocated for any of India’s matches.
