Mitchell Starc issues an official statement on Yashasvi Jaiswal sledging him

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc has finally opened up on the famous sledge by India's opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. During India's second innings of the first Test in Perth, Jaiswal was facing Starc as the latter was steaming in.

After defending a ball from the left-arm quick, Jaiswal sledged him by saying that he was bowling too slow. Mitchell Starc was seen laughing after the sledge as he walked back to his bowling mark.

While speaking to Cricket Australia, Mitchell Starc claimed that he didn't hear Yashasvi Jaiswal's words which sledged him. Star further added that he has got calmer with time and doesn't bother to give it back to people with his choice of words.

"I didn't actually hear him say I bowl too slow. Yeah, I won't say too much to people these days. I may have back in the day, but now I just sort of get on with it," Starc said.

Further elaborating on the tussle between these two players, Mitchell Starc narrated an incident in which he provoked Jaiswal to play a flick shot despite the ball in his arc.

"He played that flick shot. I think I bowled pretty much the same ball and he defended it. I said, "Where's the flick shot?" and he just laughed at me. So, we just left it there," Starc revealed.

The senior left-arm quick also heaped praises on Yashasvi Jaiswal claiming that he will be a big player in the future. Starc lauded Jaiswal's knock in the second innings of the Perth Test and was impressed by his adaptability.

"Yeah, no doubt he'll play a lot of cricket for India and be highly successful and he certainly played really well in that second innings. He's adapted to conditions through that first Test with obviously, we got him cheaply in the first innings and he adapted to that and played a fantastic innings," Starc stated.

"Full credit to him, he is one of the new crop of fearless, young cricketers around the world and someone we'll have to combat again here in Adelaide," he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal shines in Perth

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a magnificent 161 off 297 balls in the second innings of the match. He started his innings cautiously but gained momentum as the innings went ahead. His counter-attack put the Australian bowlers on the back foot.

Jaiswal stitched important partnerships with KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal to help India reach a terrific total of 487-6. Along with him, Virat Kohli also struck a brilliant hundred in the second innings. India finally won the match by a mammoth margin of 295 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
