Mohammad Amir takes a dig at Pakistan cricket setup: Pakistan has been dealing with problems in every department in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The Men in Green, though, have qualified for the Super 8 stages, but the lack of runs from other batters except Sahibzada Farhan has been one of the main concerns for the team. They looked ordinary during their humiliating 61-run loss against India.
The bowling department, especially the pacers, have not taken early wickets with the new ball nor in the death. Except for a threat from Usman Tariq, other Pakistani bowlers have not had the best of times against a quality batting team, which was India. Their first Super 8 match against New Zealand was washed out.
Mohammad Amir takes a dig Pakistan players
Ahead of their next game, against England, former pacer Mohammad Amir has shared his views on a talk show named Hasna Mana Hain on the Pakistan players’ mindset and their overconfidence. He brought out an early instance when Mickey Arthur was the coach of Pakistan. However, he did not name either the cricketer or the coach while bashing his side.
Here's the video
Muhammad Amir said, "A coach visited me after the 2023 WC & said that 6 years ago these players were never bigger than the game, now they think they are. He asked a player batting at No. 4 to move to No. 6 & he refused straight away."

Mohammad Amir said, "I won't name one coach. He came to my house for dinner after the World Cup in 2023. I had a good chat with him. I asked him where the problem was. He had talent and everything. I asked him why it was happening. He said he could only tell me that the players he left six years ago weren’t bigger than the game of cricket."
'We aren’t improving'- Mohammad Amir
"Now, I feel that these players think they are bigger than cricket. This is the main problem because of which we aren’t moving forward. We aren’t improving."
Mohammad Amir concluded saying, "He said that he told a player that he thinks he asked a player batting at No. 4 to move to No. 6, so our combination will be better. He said that he refused it and replied to the coach. He told me that this is the real problem." Reacting to the statement by Amir, the host implied he was talking about Mickey Arthur.
During the show, there has also been talk of Babar’s batting position, as many of the former cricketers and pundits think that the No.4 position is not suited for a player like Babar Azam. He has scored 66 runs so far in the competition, with the highest score of 46; he has played with a low strike rate of nearly 116.
Mohammad Amir questions the decision to drop Abrar Ahmed
In the show, Amir initially questioned the decision to drop Abrar Ahmed from the team after one bad performance in the tournament, which was against India. Amir talked about Abrar’s performances as he has been picking wickets in every situation of the game.
Amir understands why the performers have been sitting out and why Pakistan is keen on playing more all-rounders than playing a proper batter and a bowler in the playing XI.
Pakistan’s middle order needs to step up in the upcoming games if Pakistan wants to qualify for the semi-finals, as they now have stronger opponents like England and Sri Lanka. The Men in Green will face England on Tuesday, and it is a must-win game, having the first match being a washout.
