Babar Azam’s flop show continued in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2025 (PSL 2025), as he was dismissed for a duck during the second match of the season between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators on Saturday, April 12, at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Babar Azam was already dropped from Pakistan’s T20I team, and now his poor outing for Peshawar Zalmi left fans dejected and further raised concerns over his form with the willow. Peshawar Zalmi captain was dismissed by his former Pakistan teammate Mohammad Amir for a two-ball duck.
Babar Azam’s nightmare continues with golden duck in PSL 2025 opener
Mohammad Amir struck early in the opening over of the Peshawar Zalmi’s chase, sending Babar back to the pavilion without opening his account in his first game of PSL 2025. It was a full delivery from Amir, angled slightly outside off stump, tempting Babar to come forward and play at it.

However, the ball held up a little off the pitch and carried a hint of extra bounce. Babar, looking to push it gently, mistimed the shot and ended up chipping it straight to the fielder Rilee Rossouw, who was perfectly positioned at short cover to ensure the Pakistan star’s exit.
It was a disappointing start for Babar, as Peshawar Zalmi was chasing 217 runs to win their season opener against the Quetta Gladiators at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Following another flop show, fans went berserk at the former Pakistan captain on social media.

#BabarAzam being typical selfish Captain as always. As a captain he can bat at no 3. And he should also drop Haris. Make Mitch Owen open with #SaimAyub and TKC can wicket keep so yeah that’s not an issue too. Before hating me please take a look at my profile first #HBLPSLX

Can't be something more embarrassing than this. Zimbabar is so overrated man. How do people even try to fit him in Kohli category. #BabarAzam pic.twitter.com/bPKvUQ9w7J

Peshawar Zalmi in deep trouble as Abrar Strikes twice in quick succession
After Babar Azam’s dismissal, Abrar Ahmed struck twice in the fourth over as the in-form spinner dismissed Peshawar Zalmi wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris for 13 runs off 8 balls and then Tom Kohler-Cadmore for a two-ball duck in the ongoing PSL 2025 game in Rawalpindi.
The Peshawar team is currently in deep trouble as they need to score runs at the required run rate of over 12, but Hussain Talat and Saim Ayub are trying to pull off some magic against the Quetta Gladiators. Presently, Peshawar needs 142 runs in 72 balls to beat the Gladiators in Rawalpindi.
Earlier, Quetta Gladiators captain Sau Shakeel and Finn Allen smashed stunning fifties to take the total to 216/3 on the board against Zalmi. Apart from the duo, Hassan Nawaz and Kusal Mendis have also contributed 41 and 35* runs, respectively, in the challenging total on the board.

Babar Azam shuts down reporter with bold reply on Pakistan team's struggles
Meanwhile, Babar Azam gave a fitting response to a reporter when asked about the current situation of the Pakistan national cricket team.
Ahead of the match, a reporter asked, “Given the current performances of the team, when will you say something? Will you wait until the entire team is finished one day, then speak, asking what is happening and what is not happening in the Pakistan team?”
To which Babar said, “Where I need to speak, I speak. And I won't sit in the media and say what should be done. When I need to say something, I say it inside the room. I won't come here and make a big deal about what should happen on social media. That's not my job.”
