Former India National Cricket Team batter Robin Uthappa has said that the former Pakistan National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Mohammad Asif was the toughest bowler from Pakistan he ever faced in his cricketing career.
Asif played 23 Tests, 38 ODIs and 11 T20Is for Pakistan between 2005-2010. He bagged 106 Tests wickets, 46 ODI wickets and 13 T20Is wickets in a career filled with controversies. He was charged in 2010 with spot-fixing – bowling pre-planned, deliberate no-balls – and in February 2011 he was handed a seven-year ban, with two years suspended, by the ICC. He was convicted along with Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir.

Meanwhile, Robin Uthappa has said that their skill level of Asif was very high. He added that the former pacer Asif can’t be compared with the Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi.
“Mohammad Asif was the toughest Pakistan bowler I faced. His skill level was very high. Asif used to swing the ball, and you cannot compare him with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Uthappa was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

If you want to see the art of bowling, just observe Mohammad Asif – Shoaib Akhtar
Earlier, former Pakistan National Cricket Team pacer Shoaib Akhtar had said that people should watch the Asif bowl if they want to see the real art of bowling. He also recalled the 2006 Karachi Test between India and Pakistan and said that VVS Laxman looked clueless while facing Asif.
“The world has seen me bowl. If you want to see the art of bowling, just observe Mohammad Asif – that is what you call bowling. VVS Laxman was frustrated in Karachi (2006) because he didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t figure out the deliveries that were being bowled to him”, he said on ESPNcricinfo.
