Jason Holder took a brilliant catch to dismiss the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar. The catch was not easy to take as two fielders were behind the catch at the same time. Jason Holder kept his focus intact on the ball and grabbed it.

As he had to cover a good amount of ground to take the catch, at the last moment of the action, Jason Holder lost his balance and caught the ball low on the slide. The third umpire decided to give Rajat Patidar out after checking the moment several times on the screen. RCB camp was simply not happy with the decision, as it was seen that Holder's left hand on the slide was rubbing against the turf. Was it a fair catch?

Mohammad Kaif explains the whole catch of Jason Holder through a brief video

Former Team India cricketer and also a former Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter, Mohammad Kaif, explained the catch and the authenticity of the catch through a social media video. Like many cricket fans, Kaif also believes that the ball might have touched the ground when Jason Holder was on the slide.

As the ball seems to be touching the floor, questions will remain around the umpire’s call. The wicket of Rajat Patidar was a huge moment in the Gujarat Titans vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

I felt that the contact was on the grass of the ball - Mohammad Kaif

“It is always difficult for a fielder when you have your eyes on the ball, and you feel that someone is running from the front, and it can have an impact on you. Then, the focus is not 100% on the ball; your attention is lost. That's why I felt that the catch that Holder has caught here, he made contact with the ground, then when it happens, he picks himself up,” Mohammad Kaif explains the catch through a video post.

“When the motion is completed, the control happened here; he (Jason Holder) picked up his hand. Then he kept the ball on the ground and picked himself up.

"There is no problem there, as he has completed the catch. I am talking about the third motion, but when you are taking the first motion, when you took the catch, it touched here, that's why I felt that the contact was on the grass of the ball,” the former cricketer also said that the ball might have touched the ground when Jason Holder’s hand touched the ground when he was on the slide.

RCB lost the match to GT

The wicket of Patidar proved very expensive for RCB. Inside the 20th over of the first innings, they lost all of their batters for only 155 runs. Arshad Khan, who took Patidar’s wicket, claimed 3 wickets in total. The home team, the Gujarat Titans, completed the run chase inside the 16th over of the second innings and won the match by 4 wickets.

It was RCB’s third defeat so far in the ongoing IPL season. In the last five games, they have recorded three wins and two losses.
