Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who has been in the form of his life stated expressed his love for wicket-keeping — and reckoned it has given a sense of fearlessness. Rizwan has surpassed former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as the first-choice wicketkeeper for Pakistan in all the formats and he has become one of the mainstays of Pakistan’s batting.

Rizwan has played 39 T20 internationals so far and has scored 1019 runs at an average of 48.5 and a strike rate nearly of almost 130. In fact, he is at top of the charts for the batsmen who have hit the most T20 international runs in 2021 so far and has scored 706 runs in 13 innings so far. He has been sent up the order alongside Babar Azam to open the innings in T20 formats and it has certainly worked for him.

“I Think Wicketkeeping Makes Me A Fearless Personality” – Mohammad Rizwan

Mohammad Rizwan stated that he has always loved wicket keeping so much that he isn’t satisfied in a training session if he doesn’t practice with the wicket keeping gloves and reckoned that it has brought him a sense of freedom to express himself. He added that it has helped his batting side of aspect and was quite sure of recognizing him as a wicketkeeper-batsman.

“Keeping wickets is my love. I am not satisfied after a practice session if I do not spend time in my gloves. I think wicketkeeping makes me a fearless personality and it helped me a lot in my batting as well. Wicketkeeping is my prime job and I consider myself as a wicketkeeper-batsman,” Mohammad Rizwan told.

Mohammad Rizwan Happy With His Team’s Performance

Mohammad Rizwan admitted that he was quite pleased with his team’s competitive fight against England and compared it to one of the biggest tests before the T20 World Cup. He mentioned about taking the game into the last over in the decider was an achievement itself and lauded the spinners for playing a major role.

“Yes, it [England series] was a major test before the global event starts in the Gulf. But I think our boys did very well against a team that is No 1 in T20 cricket. We played competitive cricket in the T20 series against England.

“The decider went into the last over. Our spinners stood up, which is a really good sign before the UAE event where spinners will play an important role,” Rizwan concluded.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is set to take place in UAE from October 24 while the qualifiers start on October 17.
