Mohammad Shahzad Penalised For Breaching BCB Code Of Conduct After He Was Seen Smoking In The Stadium
Afghanistan player Mohammad Shahzad has been penalised by the match officials of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after he was seen smoking at the Sher-e Bangla National Stadium on Friday.
During the match between Minister Group Dhaka’s match against Comilla Victorians, the players were walking around the stadium as the match was delayed due to rain. During the break time, Shahzad broke the rules after smoking inside the stadium.
A demerit point was added to his disciplinary record as it breached Article 2.20 of the BCB code of conduct which relates to ‘conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game’.
Mohammad Shahzad accepts BCB’s sanction
Soon after, the BCB’s press release confirmed that Shahzad had admitted the offence and also accepted the sanction and there won’t be any formal hearing necessary.
Photos and videos of Shahzad smoking began circulating. On the group, the head coach of Dhaka, Mizanur Rahman, reportedly warned Shahzad. A few moments later, Tamim Iqbal also came and asked the Afghan player to get back inside the dressing room.
