India National Cricket Team pacer Arshdeep Singh has put a rest to the rumors related to Mohammed Shami's injury. He said that the pacer was fine, and with the way the ball was coming out of his hand, it seemed the 22-year-old was bowling.
India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami raised speculation about his injury after he didn't feature in the Indian XI for the first T20I against the England National Cricket Team, which took place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Mohammed Shami didn't play the first T20I against England at the Eden Gardens
Shami, who was added to the India team for the T20I series against England, was expected to make a comeback in the first T20I. The fast bowler last played an international match during the final of the ICC World Cup 2023, which took place in Ahmedabad in November 2023.
Mohammed Shami, after that, put in a lot of hard work and made sure that he got fit before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He was added to the team so that he could regain his full rhythm ahead of the tournament and get back to his best like before.
However, his not playing the match against England raised speculations. This was because he was even seen limping during his run, and hence, it came to be assumed that team management didn't want to rush him, especially with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 around the corner.

"With every delivery, you would say, 'Wow, how can such an incredible ball come out of someone's hand like this!' Just wait for a few more days, and you'll get to see that bowling, and you’ll enjoy it a lot. The way the ball is coming out of his hand makes it look like the 22-year-old Shami Bhai is bowling again>"
Mohammed Shami is expected to play a part at some stage in the series
It remains to be seen if Shami will be back in the Indian team for the second T20I against England National Cricket Team. The next game will be played on Saturday (25th January). The hosts are leading the series 1-0 after a 7-wicket win in the first match.
Shami is expected to play part at some stage in the series. He also is part of the Indian team for the ODI series against England and the team management would want him to regain his full fitness before that.
