Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will begin his new journey in the Indian Premier League when he takes the field for Gujarat Titans against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on March 25. Before playing his first match of IPL 2025, Siraj spoke about his international comeback.

Mohammed Siraj is currently running out of India's team in white-ball cricket. His red-ball form too hasn't been great recently which has raised questions over his place in the national team. The emergence of young fast bowlers like Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh has also pushed Siraj behind in the line.

However, the Gujarat Titans seamer is not too concerned about his place in the national team. He wants to concentrate on doing well in the ongoing IPL and not think too far ahead.

Mohammed Siraj breaks silence on his India comeback

During a conversation with RevSportz, Mohammed Siraj opened up on the necessity to do well in the IPL to make a comeback into India's white-ball set-up. He seemed clear in his plans to do well in the IPL and leave the selection in the hands of the selectors.

Siraj also cited an incident when he tried to think too much about his selection but was unable to perform. As a result, he just wants to produce a good performance and execute his plans.

"Selection is not in my hands. What is in my hands is taking wickets and performing for my team. I will give my 100 per cent. If I start thinking about selection, it might affect my performance," Siraj mentioned.

"In the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, just after the IPL, I was only thinking about selection and that I needed to bowl well. But the performances did not come," the fast bowler recalled.

"Later, I realised that the only things in my control are my bowling and giving 100 per cent. The most important thing is performance and whether I am executing my plans properly. I have learned this over the last few years, and it has been very helpful," he added.

Dropped from India's CT 2025 squad

Mohammed Siraj was not selected in India's Champions Trophy 2025 squad despite the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. The selectors and the team management decided to pick young fast bowlers like Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.

India's captain Rohit Sharma later reasoned why they didn't opt for Siraj's experience in a big ICC tournament. Rohit claimed that Siraj's ineffectiveness with the old ball went against his favor.

The role of fast bowlers wasn't too much in Dubai where India played all their games in the Champions Trophy. The spinners ruled the show and took India to a historic title win with the mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy leading the pack with incredible numbers.

GT snap up Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj had been a key part of RCB over the last few years but wasn't retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Titans saw the opportunity and snapped up Siraj for INR 12.25 crore.

Gujarat Titans will open their IPL 2025 campaign against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad and Siraj will be a key part of their campaign. He is likely to take the new ball alongside Kagiso Rabada.
